The Falcon 21 or F-16AT was proposed in 1990 as a low-cost alternative to the ATF. It was to use the basic F-16XL design, along with one of the proposed ATF engines. However, it was to use a trapezoidal delta wing rather than the F-16XL's cranked-arrow wing.

Variant number 3: The Transall C-160ASF - An armed version of the C-160S for sea surveillance, fitted with a search radar, several observation blisters and launching tubes for smoke and other buoys. The C-160ASF also had a retractable radar under the fuselage and pylons for up to four AM 39 Exocet missiles or other munitions.

McDonnell-Douglas MD-263. The MD-263 was one of the competing designs for the Navy Air Combat Fighter (NACF) program in the 1970s. There were both single and twin engine proposals for it. McDonnell-Douglas would eventually work with Northrop and repurpose the YF-17 Cobra into the F/A-18 Hornet.

Boeing CP-137. It was a proposal to Canada for a long range ASW platform which would have replaced the Argus in Canadian service. It ultimately lost out to the Lockheed CP-140 Aurora.

A hybrid of the Short Belfast and Lockheed C-141 proposed to the RAF for Specification ASR-364 in the 1960s. It used a modified Belfast fuselage with the wings, engines, and tail surfaces of the C-141.
